Exploring the Florida Ridge

Florida Scrub trails

The Third grade students at Dale R. Fair Babson Park Elementary explored three unique habitats of the Florida Ridge:  Scrub Plum Trail, Chapman Oak Trail, and Firehouse Trail.  These "outdoor classrooms" have been part of our school for many many years.  Students learned many interesting facts from local guides. We learned about different plants and animals that are part of this area.  Some are even on the endangered list. The students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the trails, the different native plants, the butterflies in the area, seeing animal tracks, and burrows.   Our students have a new appreciation for the importance of conservation and protecting our wildlife.  Afterward, the students enjoyed a picnic lunch around our campus. We are grateful for all the volunteers that made this trip possible!
